Ingredients

  • 6 large apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1  teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cups rolled oats
  • 0.5  cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups brown sugar
  • 0.3 cups cold butter, cubed
  • 0.5 teaspoons cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1  pinch pinch of salt

Method

  1. Prepare the apple filling: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Toss 6 large apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) with 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 tablespoons lemon juice, 3 tablespoons honey or brown sugar, and 1 teaspoons vanilla extract until well coated. Spread evenly in a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Make the oat crumble: In a bowl, mix 1 cups rolled oats, 0.5 cups all-purpose flour, 0.5 cups brown sugar, 0.5 teaspoons cinnamon and nutmeg, and 1 pinch pinch of salt. Add 0.3 cups cold butter, cubed and use your fingers to work it into the mixture until crumbly.
  3. Assemble: Spread the crumble evenly over the apple layer, covering completely.
  4. Bake: Bake for 45 minutes 45:00 until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling and tender.
  5. Serve: Let cool for 10 minutes and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Tip: Granny Smith apples hold their shape better when baked and give a nice tart contrast to the sweet crumble. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for the ultimate fall experience! 🍂🍦
